Early Saturday morning, a FedEx semi-truck accident shook the Water’s Edge Shopping Center in Edgewood, Orange County, when a truck pulling double trailers veered off Orange Avenue, climbed the sidewalk, and crashed directly into Taino’s Bakery before the business opened for the day.

According to the Edgewood Police Department, the FedEx truck was heading north on Orange Avenue before 3 a.m. when it left the road and struck the bakery.

The bakery was closed at the time, sparing customers and staff, but the semi-truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Taino’s Bakery has announced it expects to remain closed for three to four months due to extensive structural damage and permitting delays.

Officials say the cause of the crash remains under investigation and no further details have yet been released.

How a Personal Injury Law Firm Like Martindale Law Group Can Help After a Semi-Truck Crash

If you or someone you care about were injured in a serious crash, especially one involving a large commercial vehicle like a semi-truck, navigating the aftermath can be overwhelming. From medical bills and lost wages to dealing with insurance companies and complicated liability questions, having an experienced legal team on your side makes a real difference.

Here’s how Martindale Law Group can assist you:

1. Investigating Liability and Building Your Case

Semi-truck and commercial vehicle crashes often involve complex questions of fault. It’s not always just the driver. Responsibility can extend to the trucking company, vehicle maintenance providers, or other parties. An experienced personal injury attorney examines all aspects of the accident to identify every possible responsible party.

2. Handling Insurance Companies

Insurance adjusters are trained to limit payouts, often minimizing the severity of injuries or shifting blame. Martindale Law Group advocates on your behalf by negotiating with insurers so you don’t have to settle for less than you deserve.

3. Calculating Your Full Losses

Beyond immediate medical care, a serious truck crash can lead to future medical needs, lost income, property damage, rehabilitation costs, long-term care, and emotional suffering. A skilled personal injury lawyer ensures all of these are factored into your claim.

4. Securing Critical Evidence

In truck accident cases, documentation like police reports, medical records, maintenance logs, and witness testimony can be crucial especially before evidence disappears. Legal professionals know what to look for and how to preserve it.

5. No Upfront Fees

Reputable personal injury firms like Martindale Law Group work on a contingency fee basis, meaning you pay nothing unless compensation for you is secured.
